About This Course
In this class, Chris shares insightful knowledge on working with non-digital sounds, field recordings and found sounds that can be recorded anywhere and used creatively in numerous ways.

Lessons:
1. Using Room Noise in The Mix
Looking at artists like Four Tet and Burial who use field recordings in their tracks. Their creative way of sampling real world recordings makes their music stand out.
2. Making Percussion Out of Found Sounds
You can create toms, claps and other percs from recorded material that will be more sonically interesting than most digital sounds
3. EQing Field Recordings
Sculpting recorded sounds is crucial to working with them, with a wide frequency range, Chris shows us how he would sweep the sounds to identify harsh and unnecessary frequencies.
4. Making Pads With Field Recordings
Getting creative with looping recordings to create textural pad sounds.
5. Recap & MIDI Mapping
Using the found sounds to enhance the groove, Chris adds MIDI mapped effects to the foley including Delay, Auto-Filter, Reverb & Sidechain Compression.
6. Recording Automation
Recording live automation can take the sound from being dry to an interesting sonic sculpture with effects that are constantly moving.
7. Instrument Samples
Having used his daughters drum kit, recorded on an iPhone, Chris explains that you don’t need expensive equipment to create interesting sounds, he adds in the drum sample and works it into the track.
8. Mixdown
Some insightful information on how Chris would mix his tracks down, he states that makes all low-end in mono and increases the stereo image as the frequencies get higher.

Over the last decade, Chris Spero AKA Glimpse, AKA Dense & Pika has established himself as one of the UK’s most versatile, imaginative and talented producers.From his early career Glimpse has demonstrated his talent and diversified skills through his many ventures as producer.
From his successful Techno ‘Black Series’ on Glimpse recordings to the groove-laden techno of ‘Drifting’ on Planet E. In 2010 we also saw him fully pursue his deep organic take on house with his Crosstown Rebels singles and album. This musical range without a doubt has gained him the respect of his peers and has led up to two successive nominations in DJ Magazine’s prestigious ‘Best British Producer’ category.
Most recently Glimpse has become most well known for being one half of Techno duo Dense & Pika with Hypercolour label boss, Alex Jones. They have releases on Drumcode, Armada, Hotflush Turbo recordings and NowNow. They also have their own label, Kneaded Pains which they have recently released their debut album, “Colour Burn”.
