About This Course

In this lesson using Logic Pro X, Richard explains the methods behind creating multiple edits for your tracks, looking at club edit, radio/stream edits and extended edits, he breaks down what you need to have in these and why they are so important.

Richard explains the history of how music arrangement has changed over the years. He shows us a project file of his where the arrangement has been considered with the option of making an extended mix. 

2. Various Styles of Intro Arrangement

Going through more DJ tailored arrangements, starting off with the drums alone to make it easy to mix. Richard demonstrates how he would tailor this arrangement and make radio/stream edits.

3. Break and Drop Arrangement

Going through traditional styles of verse-chorus-verse-chorus, Richard explains his arrangement techniques working with a vocal for one of his tracks.

Richard Earnshaw

A classically trained jazz musician, producer, DJ, remixer, songwriter, co-founder of the iCulture brand and Duffnote, One51, Guess Record labels, Richard has been nothing short of prolific when it comes to output, having featured on a long list of labels including Soulfuric, Defected, Large, Reel People Music, Groove Culture, Salted Music, Purple Music, MoreHouse, Swing City, Peppermint Jam, Hed Kandi, Ministry of Sound, Sony Music and many more. 

Under his various collaborations and pseudonyms Richard has co-written, produced and remixed some of the industry’s great icons and isn’t exactly short of his own personal musical achievements working with and including the likes of Roy Ayres, Jocelyn Brown, Ursula Rucker, Natasha Watts and Kenny Thomas on his own original material…securing his place as a regular name on radio and dancefloors the world over. This consistency has not been confined to the studio. With club and stage performances all over the world for some of the most prominent clubs and promotions in the industry, a reminder of Richard’s musical foundations most evident with the blending of DJing and live instrumental performance.

Richard’s love affair with radio began in 2008 with his very first show/podcast – Sugar Soul which ultimately morphed into the establishment of iCulture Radio. Coupled with the ever popular iCulture events in London and Europe, Richard now joins the Mi-Soul station with his unique approach to musical entertainment.

In this course he deconstructs two tracks; first his original ā€˜Lessons in Dubā€™; Then his remix of the track. You will learn: How to prepare a remix with good sound quality The steps to approach a remix How to deconstruct a track Lessons: 1. Introduction Saytek discusses his label Cubism Records, through this label he managed to release his album Machine Jams, which was well received by Carl Cox who played 8 of the tracks on his Space Ibiza closing party. 2. Drum Group Using solely Ableton Live 10 effects and processing functions, Saytek breaks down the drum group he created to make this track. He uses processes such as Bit Reduction and Drum Buss to fatten up the group. 3. Bass & Stabs Looking at the sub-bass layer that Saytek runs through a guitar amp. Next he layered in the dubby chord he created with Analog: 2x Sawtooth waves with Unison applied to them, Filter Delay and Echo. He then plays the track in full. 4. Exporting Stems How to export stems properly for a remix, Saytek recommends bouncing loops of the track with Normalisation on. 5. He has a wealth of experience covering events management, artist management, artist booking, PR & much more. In this course, Tony teaches you how to do your own PR and how to get your music featured by channels, brands, blogs, websites, and playlists.
