About This Course
In this course Kreature teaches different styles of music chord progressions, and scales and how they work. He teaches his tips and tricks so you can figure the basics music theory out yourself using Ableton Live and VST plugins like captain chords m, and mixed in key, so you can write scales and in key for your tracks.
You will learn:
- Notes, Semitones, tones & octaves.
- Major Scales.
- Minor Scales.
- Chord Progressions.
- Choosing the right scales and chords for your track.
- Finding the scale and key of other music.
- Using Abletons built in MIDI FX to create scales and chords.
- Using Captain chords plugins for ideas and progressions.
- Write melodies and baselines in our progressions
- Adding loops and samples in key.
- Adding drums in key
Lessons:
1. Introduction
Kreature goes through basic musical theory from the ground up from a producer's point of view, to help you start writing your tracks in key.
2. Music THEORY BASIC
In this lesson Kreature teaches us the basic principles of music theory. He provides us with his tips and tricks to remember our notes and scales.

3. Music Theory In Practice
In this lesson Kreature teaches us how to find the scale of other music. He provides us with his hacks to find all the notes of a Major or Minor scale using Ableton Live’s Chord Midi effect to always play in key.
4. Chords and chord progressions
In this lesson you will learn how to use chords and chord progressions using captain chords to easily create awesome chord progressions. From here you will learn how to take these chord progressions from Captain chords and add them to your own sounds.
5. Melodies and Keeping samples in key
In this lesson Kreature shows us how to find interesting melodies and ideas for our tracks using captain chords, and mixed in key. He helps us build on progressions using the root note, and doing so he helps us figure out our favourite musical key.

- When you sample something, how do you know when it's in key?

Kreature
Although Ash Burgoyne - better known under his moniker Kreature - has retained his youthful appearance, he’s actually already a veteran in the dance scene, having been involved in music for over 15 years. From humble beginnings as a precocious bedroom DJ, by the time he turned 18, Ash had already secured a career in music, touring as a DJ around South Africa, Australia and Europe.
Growing up, Ash had a broad and eclectic taste, listening to everything from jungle to garage to disco. His productions can be seen to reflect these diverse listening habits, spanning deep house, tech, minimal, techno, acid and down tempo electronica.
Quickly earning the respect of his peers, Kreature has released across numerous labels such as Solid Grooves, Under No Illusion, Swerve Digital, Resonance Records and District 9.
Ash is experienced in teaching producers of all levels. He explains complicated processes quickly and simply, helping you to focus on making music and not get lost in the sea of information out there.
