About This Course
A member of the Beatport label team in Berlin, the largest online download store for DJs. In this course Nicky gives tips on how to chart on the platform and make the most of your artist page on Beatport.
You will learn:
- Beatport was founded in 2004 and is now the worldwide home for electronic music. A hub for DJs, producers & their fans.
- Main digital formats are offered for purchase (WAV, MP3).
- 25,000 new tracks are uploaded to beatport every week
- Every monday the store is refreshed with 100s of exclusive tracks.

1. Introduction
Golden Rule: Never be tempted to pay money to so-called promo agencies. These companies promise placements on Beatport charts in the top 100s, but this is not true, do not engage with these companies.

- Main digital formats are offered for purchase (WAV, MP3).

2. Why make an artist chart?
- Charts are a great way to extend visibility on the store beyond weekly feature updates.
- Recommended for every release
- Include your new release in the chart
- 10% of monthly track sales come via artist charts
You can make an artist chart from a customer account (DJ Profile), which can then be linked to your artist profile. They must use an artist picture to be considered for featuring.
Once published, share your chart on all social networks.

Pre-Order is a great promotional tool, you can set it up 4 weeks prior to release date which can tie into your marketing campaigns. All preorder sales generated within the 28 fdays prior to release are spread out across the first week of charting, increasing your odds of making the charts

Nicky Böhm
Nicky is a Label Manager at Beatport’s Berlin office, a digital platform that is the global home of electronic music for DJs, producers and their fans. For the past six years she has been managing direct relationships with key label and distribution partners to help them maximise their revenue and increase their content visibility across the platform.
Previously Nicky has a background in Label and Product Management and has worked at various independent records labels (!K7, BPitch Control, Kitty Yo). Nicky loves mentoring women artists and is passionate about promoting intersectional diversity, inclusion and equity within the music industry.
